Losing Weight May Help Asthma

According to a new study, people with asthma are more likely to be overweight than the rest of the population. In a report published in the July 2001 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine, researchers reported that patients with asthma are nearly three to six times more likely to be obese than patients without asthma. It is unclear whether asthma leads to obesity or if obesity leads to asthma. However, the researchers suggest that weight loss may be beneficial in reducing asthma symptoms. Talk to your doctor if you are overweight or suffer from asthma.
